Zakopane
Zakopane – discover the charms of the capital of the Polish Tatra Mountains
Zakopane is one of the most recognisable and most popular tourist destinations in Poland. Situated at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, it has been attracting tourists for years with its beautiful landscapes, unique atmosphere and rich highlander culture. Whatever the season, the town offers a wealth of attractions, ensuring there is something for everyone.
The Tatra Mountains – Zakopane’s greatest treasure
Zakopane’s greatest asset is its proximity to the Tatra Mountains, which delight visitors with their diverse landscapes. Mountain hiking enthusiasts can choose from a wide range of trails of varying difficulty. One of the most famous spots is Morskie Oko – a picturesque lake surrounded by high peaks, visited by thousands of tourists every year.
It is also well worth a visit to Gubałówka, which offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Tatra Mountains and the whole of Zakopane. Kasprowy Wierch is another popular destination; you can reach it by cable car or hike up via one of the mountain trails.
Krupówki – the heart of the town
No visit to Zakopane is complete without a stroll along Krupówki. This is the town’s most famous street, lined with restaurants, cafés, souvenir shops and stalls selling regional produce. Here you can sample traditional oscypek cheese, buy handmade crafts and soak up the unique atmosphere of this mountain resort.
Krupówki is particularly popular during the winter and summer seasons, when the town attracts the most tourists.
